Here's my Mk4 Golf gti, owned for about 18 months.

Upgrades so far

Jom coilovers
Bbs rs 2s
Dimpled and grooves discs alround
Pipercross panel filter in smoothed airbox
Split r dump valve
New turbo 5k ago along with valve stem oil seals and reseated valves and all new gaskets
Full miltek cat back exhaust
All new front wishbones ball joints and track rod ends
New front seats in near new conditon
Resprayed wood trim silver

Here's some pics of how its sat now

And here some from showing all the progress so far

KGrHqRjgE2vLDWjrOBNuGLIs51w_3.jpg

2 days later i noticed it had started smoking heavily on startup and idle.
So i took it to a mechanic i knew for a diagnosis and he was adament it was the valve stem oil seals.
So a week later after getting all the parts gathered up it was time to get it in the garage and strip the head down.

S1051140.jpg
S1051141.jpg
S1051142.jpg

After many hours in the garage and all new oil seals, gaskets and freshly reseated valve seats it was time to start it up.
And to my great joy it was still exactly the same:(
So next on the list to try was the turbo but before that i bought my self a set of joms to cheer me up.

and here was the out come.
S1051178.jpg

S1051180.jpg

S1051181.jpg
Im pretty pleased with how it looks at the mo.

Next job was to get a new turbo so i was looking on ebay for about a week and finally got this one for £150 including p+p and 3 months warranty.
KGrHqNjcE2HIWLGlHBNwpG-8CRg_12.jpg

After another day in the garage and more raving and chewing i finally got the turbo sorted and shes running as good as new.
Next thing on my list is some Wheels

here is some pics of the car after a good clean

S1051190.jpg
S1051189.jpg

Just noticed that i have a problem after fitting the coilovers on the front. the top mounts dont sit into the wings correctly.

Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone know why it would be doing this?

S1051188-1.jpg
S1051187-1.jpg

Solved the problem today thanks to some forum members today.

S1051264.jpg
S1051263.jpg

Hopefully these will get delivered tomorrow

and heres a couple of pics i took today

S1051255.jpg
S1051256.jpg

My new wheels have arrived.

Decided to do my CV boot while i had the wheels off, got it all dismantled then realised Pages had supplied me with the wrong CV boot. idiots.

Heres a couple of quick pics of the car with the new wheels. will get some better ones tomorrow after a good clean and wax

S1051292.jpg

S1051294.jpg

Been a while since i did these but i have finally got the other 2 wheels refurbed and got a lot of pics of how i did them

firstly heres a couple of pics of what they were like

Heres a pic of the stuff i used. Wet and dry 120,320,400,600,1000. ipson P38 filler, etching primer, silver metallic paint i got matched at the local parrys and clear laquer.

6035686923_27f555678a_b.jpg
2011 163 by trillium86, on Flickr

First i masked up the edge so i didnt catch the rest of the paint work.

6036244414_6029e0a143_z.jpg
2011 164 by trillium86, on Flickr

I then sanded off the burrs from the curb marks ready for filling

6036247214_e43e8f634e_z.jpg
2011 165 by trillium86, on Flickr

then came filling the marks with p38 filler and waited 30 mins or so to harden

Then i started sanding down the filler to get a flat, smooth finish. Make sure you use i sanding block to keep it nice and flat.

Next i washed the wheel with hot soapy water and left to dry thourghly in the hot british sun.

Once thourghly dry masked up everything that isnt being paint with masking tape and newspaper.

Now to the priming. i used light grey primer but white would probably be better for silver.

I held the can about 300mm from the wheel and went round in one continous circle per coat, leaving about 10 mins between coats as it was quite hot and closing the garage door after every coat so no bits blew in with the wind.

I put on 4 coats of primer.

Forgot to take i picture of this part but it would have been virtually the same as the one before but grey.

After another 30 mins i started on the metalic silver top coat using the same method as with the primers leaving about 10 mins again between coats and putting on 4 coats.

2011 175 by trillium86, on Flickr

After leaving to dry for about 40 mins i started the clear coat. Same method as before, 10mins between coats and 4 coats.

once finished leave to set for an hour and remove all the masking tape and newspaper and admire your lovely handy work

Catches whit on the back with the 15mm spacers on but not much.
As for the mounts I put new rubber top mounts on which did the job.
